About me:

Hi all! I am Kim Offenbecker, the Assistant Principal. I grew up a farm girl in a small town in the thumb. I moved to Bay City after graduating from Central Michigan University with my bachelor's degree in the 1999-2000 school year. I started as a long term substitute here at Washington and then taught as a traveling Physical Education and Media teacher throughout the district. I then taught 3rd grade at Riegel for a year and came back home to Washington as an AM/PM Kindergarten teacher. The following year I started as a 2nd grade teacher, but left in September for maternity leave. In the previous years I had been a substitute administrator at various times...many times here at Washington. So, before I returned to 2nd grade I received a call asking if I would like to finish the year as the Assistant Principal. Of course I said yes! That was January 2007, and I have been in this position since.

A little bit about myself...During first year teacher meetings here in Bay City I met a wonderful guy whom I married in the summer of 2004. He is a teacher at Western High School. We have one son who will be 2 in November. We enjoy riding horses, camping, downhill skiing, and Tiger baseball (even during their rough years...we're true fans!). We are "outdoorsy" people, you could say. We are also big sport fans, in general. And now that we have a son, he is joining in on the fun.

I am very excited to be at Washington again this year. I truly love coming to work everyday and watching each student grow personally and academically. Like I stated earlier, Washington feels like home to me. I am proud of the things we are accomplishing on a daily basis, and look forward to celebrating the gains we make again this year.
